Robert is a business lawyer whose practice is focused on financial restructurings, both in and out of bankruptcy court. He has guided hundreds of businesses through Chapter 11 reorganizations, sales, orderly wind downs, and out-of-court workouts. His clients come from every sector, ranging from small enterprises with a few employees to public companies with thousands. He also has extensive experience representing Unsecured Creditors Committees in Chapter 11 cases, and investors of distressed assets and businesses in 363 sales and Chapter 11 Plans. Robert has also served as court-appointed Receiver for operating and liquidating businesses.
Although he works with companies across the spectrum of industries, a significant portion of Robert's practice involves restructurings of manufacturing, retail, automotive, farming and agribusiness, healthcare, sports and leisure, construction, and real estate enterprises.
Robert has built a reputation regionally with fellow attorneys, bankers, and business and accounting professionals as a lawyer with a sharp business sense adept at solving complex problems with multiple parties and competing interests.
Robert earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University in 1994, and was board certified in 2005 as a Business Bankruptcy Law Specialist. He has been consistently recognized as a standout among Tennessee insolvency lawyers by publications including Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Nashville Business Journal's Best of the Bar, and Mid-South SuperLawyers.
In addition to his insolvency practice, Robert has over the years represented businesses and their owners in a wide range of corporate and transactional matters, including the buying and selling of businesses, commercial real estate, and other assets.
